PAL is a youth crime prevention program that utilizes educational, athletic and recreational activities to create trust and understanding between police officers and youth in our community .

Davie PAL Boxing Team

Davie PAL Boxing Team has had a great year. Coach Pete Balcunas, and Coleman White,  have trained and made champions out of our kids.  Davie PAL has produced State PAL Championships in 2011, 2012,2013, and 2014 as well as State Silver Gloves Champions for 2011 and 2012.and Natioanl Silver Gloves Champion in 2013. We have produced a State Golden Gloves Champion for 2015, 2016 and National Golden Gloves Champion for 2015.  PAL is proud to announce that Teofimo Lopez has earned a spot in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil and will be representing the country of Honduras.




I regret to inform you that our Head Boxing Coach Peter Balcunas passed away unexpectedly last night. Peter was a retired Ft. Lauderdale Police Officer  and a  retired United States Marine who served in Vietnam. Peter served in many functions over the years  he was part of Florida Gold Coast Amateur Boxing Association, USA Boxing, Florida Golden Gloves Association, and was selected by U.S.A. Boxing ( Olympic Boxing Team) to coach the 1998 U.S.A. team at the Goodwill Games, he also coached at the Goodwill Games Training Camp in Lake Placid, New York, and at the Elite Training Camp, Olympic Training Center, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Peter was attached to the Juvenile Alternative Motivation (J.A.M.) Program. Peter was also the President of Florida Gold Coast Boxing, and the Chairman of the Development and Education Committee for U.S.A. Boxing.

Peter was instrumental in helping us here at PAL over the years and helping us turn this into a great program.

In lieu of flowers the Balcunas family has asked that you make a donation to the Davie PAL Boxing program.

Beginner Boxing Program

The Beginner Boxing Program is designed for your child to have more specialized training in the sport of boxing. The coaches will be able to gage their skills and commitment to the sport, all while they learn the history, safety and dedication needed to succeed within the sport.

The Program runs every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

Week 1

Boxing History, Davie PAL Boxing History, Gym Rules, Safety, Health, First Aid, and Conditioning.

Week 2

Review week 1, Wrapping Hands (hand wraps will be issued), Introduction to Types of Equipment, Technique, and Conditioning.

Week 3

Review week 1-2, Drills-ropes, bags, and mitts. Circuit Training, Interval Training, Plyometrics, and Conditioning.

Week 4

Review week 1-3, Conditioning, Graduation, and issue PAL Boxing Shirts.


To become a member of Davie PAL Boxing your child must be between the ages of 7 and 20 years old. You will need your parent's signature in order to join.
